GRID 2 is the next Codemasters racing sim and sequel to the very popular Race Driver: GRID which came out in 2008. GRID 2 will be available at the end of May.
We got some hands on with GRID 2 last year and we will say that Codemasters build games to look good as well as play good so we expect some serious PC hardware will be required. Lets take a look at the GRID 2 system requirements to see if you can run it...
GRID 2 Minimum System Requirements
OS: Win Vista, Win 7, Win 8
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @2.4Ghz / AMD Athlon X2 5400+
RAM: 2 GB Memory
HD: 15 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 / AMD HD2600 / NVIDIA Geforce 8600
DX: 11
AUDIO: Direct X compatible soundcard
OTHER: Broadband Internet connection
Additional Supported Graphics Cards
Intel HD Graphics 3000, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Intel Graphics 5200.
AMD Radeon HD2600 or higher, HD3650 or higher, HD4550 or higher, HD5000 Series, HD6000 Series, HD7000 Series.
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or higher, 9500 or higher, GTX220 or higher, GTX400 Series, GTX500 Series, GTX600 Series: AMD Fusion A8 or higher.
GRID 2 Recommended System Requirements

CPU: Intel Core i7/AMD Bulldozer
RAM: 4 GB Memory
GPU: Intel Graphics 5200 / AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series / Nvidia GeForce GTX 500 Series
GPU RAM: 1GB Memory
DX: 11
First point to note about the system requirements - GRID 2 requires DX 11 as minimum
Second point to note is that in the minimum system requirements it lists AMD HD 2600 and NVIDIA Geforce 8600 and these are not capable of DX 11.
Third point to note is that it also lists Win Vista which also is not capable of DX 11.
Final point is that these guys are suggesting a mighty Intel i7 or AMD Bulldozer as a CPU requirement for GRID 2. Thats pretty hefty and entirely plausable for this type of racing simulator game.
Once we get this from Codemasters we will be putting it through its paces to see what sort of FPS real world rigs can achieve.
